Question: Dear Luise: My question is a common one, but one that no one can really fully answer. I had my tubes tied in 1993 immediately following the birth of my son. This month my cycle only spotted a little. I have been feeling like I am pregnant but don’t want to get my hopes up because a lot of doctors have stated that you cannot get pregnant after a tublal sterilization.I have found that that answer is simply not true. I know several people who have gotten pregnant after having tubes tied years on down the line. Why can’t someone just be honest about the whole topic. Please help me out with this. Deitra
Answer: Dear Deitra: There is a lot of information on the web on Tubal Ligation if you do a Google Search.
I honestly think you know more about the subject than I do.
If you feel like your sterilization may have failed and you might be pregnant, why not take a pregnancy test?
It sounds like you have gotten conflicting information and unfortunately that is often true when you do medical research. Some doctors don’t want to admit that a procedure failed. Trust your own instincts.
