Question: Dear Luise: I’m in my teens and this may not be a question that many people can relate to, but I have no idea how to create love in my life? How do I find love? Where do I go? What do I do? Sincerely, Zoe
Answer: Dear Zoe: If the question matters to you, that’s all that’s needed. I would say the best way to accomplish what you desire is to practice it. Don’t set out searching for it and trying to manifest it and pining away for it…be loving. The truth of the matter is that when you are sincerely loving, you do experience it. Ask any mother and she will tell you that in the process of tending a child, no matter how hard that sometimes becomes, the more love she gives, the more love she is filled with. It’s guaranteed. Love is a gift we give to others, and in so doing, receive back ourselves, ten-fold. If we sit around and wait for it and suffer from the lack of it, we perpetuate that barren landscape in our lives.
Does that sound too vague? It’s just a natural law, Zoe. We want to be loved and we don’t know that the greatest and most reliable source of the love we seek, is within us. When we put sincere love, not people-pleasing, into our work, offer it to our pets, love what we read or a gorgeous sunset, we are feeling love and feeling loved goes with it. Who gave you your pet, what does your pet give you? Where did the sunset come from? Gratitude is a variety of love. When you start noticing what you love, and give more and more of it to yourself and others, you will become a more loving person. That then shows up in your smile and is expressed through your eyes. Others will respond. They can’t help it. Blessings, Luise
