Nutrition, Health Suppliments Too Much

Question: Hi Luise: I find it so hard to keep on a schedule when it comes to nutrition, health, suppliments. Taking twice-daily vitamins, after-meal suppliments and remembering to exercise is often just too much. I just can’t seem to remember everything. When you add drinking enough water on top of it, I find by the end of the day I have only done half of what I am suppose to do. How can I incorporate these healthy lifestyle features into my day, and not feel like I am obsessed. When I am thinking about when to take what, I forget about other things in my life. How do you do it? How do you stay on schedule without feeling like you are obsessing over health measures? Thanks, Maxine

Answer: Dear Maxine: How funny that you have come to the conclusion that I am able to handle nutiriion, health, suppliments with aplomb! I don’t think anyone who doesn’t make a religion out of it can. And that’s obsession, in my book.

You didn’t mention whether you are at home all day or leave your home on a regular basis for protracted periods of time. I seem to alternate between the two.

OK, for what it’s worth, here’s what I do. I have a 64 ounce, clear, plastic jug that is safe. It’s the thick kind like commercial, five-gallon water jugs. I drink 64 ounces of cran-water a day…(that’s 8 ounces of pure, organic cranberry juice in filtered water). I keep it in my refrigerator. I put the 8 glasses I will need out on my kitchen counter, plus smaller, safe-plastic carry jugs, if I am going to be away.

My plan doesn’t always work even though I bought a one-hour-alarm watch to help me. I sometimes ignore the alarm, take it with me and forget to drink it…but it is the best I can do and still have a life. That’s your point, right?

I do the same thing with my suppliments and I have to admit that the “before, during and after” gets ignored. I take them three times a day, so I have three containers that I fill every morning…and if I’m going to be away, I put them in a sandwich bag. Sometimes I get back home and they are still in my purse…but not always! For my exercise, I do them when I get up and go to bed. When I go to the gym, I schedule it into my day like any other appointment. Blessings, Luise
