Question: Dear Luise: I am 41 years old. I have three kids and my mom making them turn against me. S.
Answer: Dear S.: When someone is being turned against us, they always have a choice. They don’t need to listen or if they do, they aren’t required to buy into it. When we have been the ones to raise them, we have had to discipline them and this often harbors resentment. With a little push from another person, it can support a denial of everything we did that was loving…as well as how much we care.
I don’t know of anything we can do in such circumstances to turn it around. It is usually necessary to take our own stand regarding cruelty. Accepting it is seen as agreeing with it. If we keep our faith and our dignity, sometimes the manipulations of others are seen through and those we love, return. Blessings, Luise
