Question: Dear Luise: I raised my 2 daughters as a single Mom. My oldest went to live with her Father due to the fact that she was out of control and disliked me. We did have a relationship after she had her 1st son who passed away at the age of 6 weeks old. She has 3 daughters now who I cannot see anymore. My other daughter and I had a wonderful relationship up until their Father won the lottery…10 Million….
Now they do not want anything to do with me at all. Promises were made to me by the 3 of them…however they reneged leaving me in a financial situation that I hope never to endure again. I was told by my oldest that I had to hit rock bottom sometime. I cannot understand how they could treat me like this. I have not spoken to them in over a year. I still cry and miss them dearly but at this time I do not like them at all. Of course there is more to this story but there is NO Excuse as to the way I, their Mother has been treated by my 26 and 30 years old daughters. I feel a void in my life I wish I could fill. I am learning to live without them but it is so hard. I miss them dearly. I ask, how could this happen and why? T.
Answer: Dear T.: Knowing the answer to that question won’t help. It is how it is. Money can cause terrible problems, especially when they had a good start before it appeared.
