Vintage Two-door Travel Trailers
Question: Dear Luise: A neighbor is selling us her vintage camper (1960 two-door) for $600. It has been appraised at $1,500. Price aside, I am in love with this treasure; my husband likes it too! Wondering if you have any photos/information on old campers with two doors. My Internet search has come up empty so far. Just discovered your site and excited to explore it further. Thank you for your time and expertise! C.
Answer: Dear C.: I don’t have any photos but I have a lot of memories of those units. It was such a positive move in the direction of safety when manufacturers started to design two-door travel trailers.
There is a certain charm for some of us to the vintage trailers…real wood paneling being one thing that makes our hearts sing. And how about those old louvered windows that allowed you to let in the fresh air but not the rain.
You will find that there are many website suggestions in the posts on my site under the headings “RV Advice” and “Senior RV Camping and Camping Clubs.” Happy reading and Happy Trails! Blessings, Luise
