If you keep them from their cousins, they lose big time...and if you go to these gatherings and they get hurt, it is still a loss. No one says anything and that's a message for them to be withholding, which they are already learning. There's no resolution until they get old enough that you can with them about the choices other people make that affect us all and let them choose not to go, if that's their wish. Awful! It is truly the most infuriating thing you've ever been through when the Daughter in law intentionally delays whatever plans you have made just to keep control over your life. This Christmas, we went to our sons and Daughters and law's home who live away. The other son and daughter in law came, 2 hours late. It makes you seethe with resentment but you don't say a word. Then, the next day, the DIL and son take THEIR kids horseback riding and leave 3 little boys of the son we were visiting there at their house. The ones left behind didn't say anything. I was heartbroken for them. So disgusting. They rode for hours. So when they finally came back, it was so late, WE had to leave. How can you go off and leave 3 kids that you are supposed to be visiting sitting there at Christmas while you're off horseback riding? This happens all the time. The last time the son with the little boys and his wife came here, the other son and DIL said they were coming by and we waited all day long and they never came. Little boys sitting and waiting for hours and no call, no nothing. I think it's control. Just wanting to control everyone's life. Pitiful!
