What are We Waiting For

Question: Dear Luise: I’m 19 years old and I like a 26 year-old guy. We met via my college. He is a high school teacher and he mainstreams autistic kids in my college. We are friends but we both are attracted to each other. What should I do? Should I show him that I’m available if he wants to take our relationship farther or just give up? I really like him and I think our current situation is really bothering him because he doesn’t really know how I feel about him. I think he doesn’t know what to do? M.

Answer: Dear M.: It’s hard to believe the guy is that shy. I doubt very much that he doesn’t know what to do, if he has gone all through college and is teaching.

However, you don’t have to sit around and wait for him to make the first move unless you want to. Ask him out and see what happens. Blessings, Luise

About Luise Volta

Luise’s long life has brought her to being the great grandmother of four teenagers. Born in 1927, the miles in between her teens and theirs have been full of falling and getting up, learning and growing and then falling and getting up again. A normal, though not simple, process. She has had diverse careers in nursing, teaching preschool, interior design, Real Estate sales, insurance adjusting and dairy herd testing. She’s lived in the Mid-west, South and West Coast. Luise is married to the love of her life, Val, born in 1911. Their little terrier, “Rosa,” makes most of the major decisions at their house, (or thinks she does).
