Dear Luise: Glad to see you still have your site going! We've been here almost a year and love it here on the lake and the woods/wild life. My husband's been fishing up a storm all summer and we're in construction and doing a lot of work in the Park. We're meeting a lot of fine people and getting more involved some. As you know there's endless things going on all the time. Top 'o the Day! L.

As I understand it, the people who developed Port Susan owned the land. They deeded it over to the Tulalip Tribe to avoid the county permits and inspections as they erected buildings, crushed rock, built roads, removed trees, put in undergound power and water and installed septic tanks and drainfields on all 2500 lots. In exchange, they were given back a long-term, renewable lease. You can call the sales office to find out more specifics on how long it has to run but in the meantime, they can't sell it. Also, most of the heavy-duty park model trailers are worth much more than the membership/lot and can be moved to nearby Lake Connor Park Camping Club, if need be. Some might worry about this, we never did and bought there thirty years ago.

Hi Luise!
Gee, I hope you or someone keeps a Port Susan comment site. Sorry to hear you're leaving. We just bought 2 lots recently on Bowspirit and have a park trailer ordered for one and I'll motor home will be on the other. We loe it there and it's really connected and bonding the family more. There is so much for everyone, never a dull moment and fun/get away from it all people, there for each other. (You actually want to know your neighbors)
Last night we went to the Burn Pit Pig Roast that Alan and Chris (our loggers) sponsered. Tons of food and Dan Emory (Emory's Zone) did the Open Jam and Karaoke. The teenagers showed some promising talent and showed what kids should be doing and they had a blast doing it! The event brought out a lot of people and was a great success and I can't think of a better place for kids to hang out.
I really hope to meet you, drop by before you take off!

Answer: Dear Amber: I put the Airstream/Argosy up on Craigslist last Thursday and the calls just poured in. The first person bought it. At the same time, the sales office sold my membership,(lot), to a different person. It was my own, personal retreat but my husband is 96 years old, (I am 80), and he is needing to have me around more of the time. I realized I hadn't used it in the last six months and had let the whole summer slip by. I needed to let it go. Call the Port Susan Camping Club Sales Office,(425)743-7272, ask for either Bill or Serina and make an appointment. Tell them I sent you. :-) Blessings, Luise

Hi Luise,
I am going to be in Port Susan to look at lots there in 2 weeks. I am from the Portland area. 2 questions. Why are you selling/leaving this camp club? It sounds wonderful. What are you selling your lot and airstream for? Pictures??
Thank you

I'm 25, and the first time I heard about a camping club was a few days ago in an ad. My fiance, Jennifer, and I went to look at a place for sale in Port Susan. I loved the place from the start (especially because of the affordability). I think we'll be able to save a lot more money than with a big mortgage. Thank you Luise for this article that is helpful to us.
