Heading For Lazydays RV Show
Question: Dear Luise: We are interested in going to the Lazydays RV Show this month in Tampa, Florida. Have you ever bought at an RV show? Are the buys as great as they say? I guess we are a little intimidated about that many salesmen circling around and wonder if it’s going to be a comfortable experience. June and Matt
Answer: Dear June and Matt, there’s only one way to find out. Hit the road and embrace the adventure! I just looked it up on the web. So, it’s a 30th Anniversary celebration over the month of January. Could be great prices! I have attended many RV shows but have not bought through that venue.
The kind of extravaganza you are describing can be overwhelming. Part of it depends on how you do it. I would stay for at least a week. Go several times, and try not to see too much at a time. I don’t know where you live, but if it isn’t close to Tampa, it might be wise to rent a car that you can switch for an RV if you find the rig of your dreams and want to drive it home?
And while you’re there, why not take a look at some of Florida’s senior housing? They are famous for that and if you are approaching or have already reached senior status you might find it interesting. Make the trip worth your while and drag the adventure out as long as you can!
It would be wise to do some homework and know which makes and models you are interested in. You don’t have to look at all 19 brands and 170 makes and models! Pacing yourselves is a very important survival technique. As salespeople approach you, keep an eye out for the one that feels comfortable and let him/her know what you’re looking for. Brush the rest off but be sure to take their brochures!
When you get back to your motel read the material you have collected and have your own, private summit conferences regarding your progress. And as you narrow your preferences down and start to get serious, look up that sales person who wasn’t pushy and was willing to listen.
If we were attending the Lazydays RV Show, we’d be careful to remember to eat regularly because hunger and/or junk food can throw your energy and judgment off and we’d stop and rest often. Have fun! Blessings, Luise
