Luise Addresses Your Interests With Wisdom and Love

Lazy Daze Motorhome Owners Heading for Lazy Days

Question: Dear Luise: We are about to retire using our Lazy Daze motorhome as our primary residence. We’re just eating up what you have to offer on your site for seniors with the proverbial “itchy foot”. Here’s what we would like to know about…mail. How do you handle getting your mail when you are moving about and need to pay your bills and keep in touch? We understand that you are from Washington and also wonder…if we’re not being too nosey, if you have used the Washington State Campgrounds or have stayed on the ocean at the Kalaloch Campground? We live in Oregon and have found both to be outstanding on our short vacations while still working! We’re getting excited. R-day is June 1st! Leslie

Answer: Dear Leslie: Well, hey, if R-Day means Retirement Day. Whoopee! I have very close friends who have a class C, fiberglass Lazy Daze motorhome that they just love. It’s very well designed and durable. Good for you for picking something that will last you a long time.

Mail. There are many places that offer mail-forwarding service to RVers. I like the Escapee Club because they offer so many other RV benefits beyond mail service. You can find them at www.escapees.com . Some people have a friend or family member pick up their mail to forward weekly or monthly to their current address. Email usually keeps them in close contact with each other regarding location.

I had a family member who got my mail, opened my bills and paid them out of a joint account. That works well, too, if you have someone willing and able to do it. The only reason I did that at first was because I’d heard it took quite a while for mail to get to the forwarding service and then back to you. However, when I tried it later on, I got used to the rhythm and it worked fine. Got to say, I like the family member system best, but my daughter eventually got weary of it, which is understandable.

Regarding Washington State Campgrounds in general and the Kalaloch Campground on the ocean, specifically, yes we love them! (The Kalaloch Lodge is pretty special, too.) We also like the US Forest Service Campgrounds in our gorgeous state. Aren’t we lucky to live in the Pacific Northwest in such endless splendor?

Here’s to lazy days in your Lazy Daze Motorhome . R-Day will be here before you know it! Blessings, Luise
