Luise Addresses Your Interests With Wisdom and Love

Healthy Eating

Category: Nutrition & Health

Question: Dear Luise: I have been having a hard time trying to change my eating habits. It’s taken me several years to actually modify the quantity, variety and quality of the food I eat, and now I find I have a new problem. I used to be able to eat just about anything and feel fine. I was like a walking disposal. But now after consistently doing cleanses and removing toxins from my body, I can’t even occasionally indulge in most of the things I used to eat regularly without putting on weight from the water that immediately goes into my tissues to remove the toxins. Is this the way it is, fat and food-tolerant or healthy and extremely limited? Thanks. Bea

Answer: Dear Bea: I am not well versed on the ins and outs of nutrition. However, it sounds to me like you are making overall progress. It doesn’t sound like a bad trade-off to be healthy and have to accept limitations.

Many of us are prone to believe that progress should be problem-free. That’s not always true. It can be difficult at times. Your body has had the book thrown at it…(or maybe the refrigerator.) When eating habits are radically modified, very complex body chemistry is involved. Good nutrition has to be accepted internally and you can’t just randomly toss in stuff that no longer works for you and expect smooth sailing. It makes you sick.

Give all of this some time. Be patient and let the needed changes take place without putting any more strain on your chemistry than necessary. Be extremely kind to yourself in transition and give your body the most supportive foods possible.

There is a great deal we don’t know about digestion, and absorption. Information about our endocrine glands and blood chemistry is still being aggressively gathered and new discoveries are being made all of the time. Yesterday’s knowledge is always tempered with today’s experience and from that tomorrow’s data is altered. Look at how much you are learning.

Follow the simplest plan available and stick to it with a gentleness that will continuously support all of the changes you are experiencing. Let it evolve. You are healing from the inside out. Your “medicine” is good nutrition. Blessings, Luise
