Why Won’t Anyone Help Me?

Question: Dear Luise: i just learned that my 12 yr old daughter need hearing aids. i am a low income family that has no ins. the dr tells me she need to be cleared by a diff kind of dr. well i have called every ped. in a 50 mile radius. they all tell me i need a specialist. so i guess my ?????? is where do i start? i have asked everyonr that ? and nobody can give me an answer. so if you could help me all i need is for somebody to point me in the right direction. thank you for your time. M.

Answer: Dear M.: I am baffled by this. Go back to the first doctor that told you she needed hearing aids and ask him for a referral. Or if you are on welfare, ask for one there. I have no idea why you would be told that and then not directed to a specialist.

If you get nowhere, call your local TV station and tell them what you are up against and how hard you have tried to get help for your daughter. Someone, somewhere will back you up if you don’t give up. Blessings, Luise
