Bank of America Local Heroes Award and Non-profit Grant

Question: Dear Luise: I was at the Bank of America breakfast this morning and just want to extend my congratulations to you. It’s inspiring to learn of the many ways in which “Local Heroes” are making our community a better place. The Warm Beach Senior Community is lucky to have you! E.

Answer: Dear E.: What a nice surprise to find your congratulations waiting for me today when I got back home from that event in Seattle. Thank you.

There are so many ways to volunteer. I think, for seniors especially, continuing to volunteer no matter what your personal circumstances may be, can offer expansion instead of contraction. In my present situation…as my husband’s caregiver, it’s truly a blessing to be able to reach out to others using the Web. Usefulness is a healing balm. It’s heart-to-heart stuff. Blessings, Luise

About Luise Volta

Luise’s long life has brought her to being the great grandmother of four teenagers. Born in 1927, the miles in between her teens and theirs have been full of falling and getting up, learning and growing and then falling and getting up again. A normal, though not simple, process. She has had diverse careers in nursing, teaching preschool, interior design, Real Estate sales, insurance adjusting and dairy herd testing. She’s lived in the Mid-west, South and West Coast. Luise is married to the love of her life, Val, born in 1911. Their little terrier, “Rosa,” makes most of the major decisions at their house, (or thinks she does).
