He Doesn’t Want Her Child Around

Question: Dear Luise: Is it too much for a man who has one child (and only wanted one child) to ask a single mom (with one child) not to have her child come live with them? The man’s child lives with his “ex.” V.

Answer: Dear V.: Anyone can ask but very few mothers would be inclined to choose to abandon a child in favor of a new relationship.

I do respect the guy for putting his cards on the table and not pretending that he is willing to accept what won’t work for him. However, what he wants probably won’t work for her.

Such alliances are usually package deals. A single mom is encumbered, there’s no getting around it. And a new guy who is not into kids is probably a poor choice for her. Blessings, Luise

About Luise Volta

Luise’s long life has brought her to being the great grandmother of four teenagers. Born in 1927, the miles in between her teens and theirs have been full of falling and getting up, learning and growing and then falling and getting up again. A normal, though not simple, process. She has had diverse careers in nursing, teaching preschool, interior design, Real Estate sales, insurance adjusting and dairy herd testing. She’s lived in the Mid-west, South and West Coast. Luise is married to the love of her life, Val, born in 1911. Their little terrier, “Rosa,” makes most of the major decisions at their house, (or thinks she does).
